Walks at Jervaulx Abbey
Our carpark is a private car park for those visiting the abbey and using the tearooms. Since Covid we have reduced our car parking and would ask that groups find alternative parking as our customers struggle to find car parking.
We have reduced parking at the Tearooms, parking is for those using the tearooms and abbey only. If you are planning a full days walking, please find alternative parking as this makes it difficult for customers to find a a parking space over busy lunch times. We have a honesty box at the enterance of the car park.
The Abbey is set with a stunning parkland which has a bridle way footpath, this is hard standing but not totally smooth. Pushchairs would make for a bumping but achievable walk. It is a mile to the other side of the parkland, passing a lovely pond.
We do ask that dogs are always kept on leads, the land is used for farming and there will be livestock with the parkland. Please know that farmers are within their rights to shoot any dog off its lead, if they believe the dog is worrying their livestock.
Popular 6 1/2 mile circular walk
A beautiful scenic circular walk, we do have a map available to purchase within the Tearooms. Heading through the bridleway past the abbey and up to Thornton Stewart, enjoy a beautiful view up the dale. Following the path way to the danby estate and down to cover bridge pub, enjoy a delicious pint of something special in this country riverside pub. Follow the river back downstream and end up back at the Tearooms, just ready for a homemade cake or cream tea. A lovely easy walk, beautiful in all weathers.
