Weddings at Jervaulx Abbey
Jervaulx Abbey is a exclusive and naturally stunning wedding venue, with wild flowers already decorating the ruins. The nature and natural beauty of these historic ruins lends itself perfectly for a romantic setting. Due to the current laws in England it is not possible to legally get married outside, but luckily we have a beautiful, fully-licensed summer house structure, built with a oak framed and Yorkshire slate floor set within the Abbey which is licensed for the legal ceremonies.
This privately run venue is the perfect place to make beautiful memories, also knowing that you have contributed to the preservation of the Abbeys future. You will be working alongside Anna, youngest daughter of Ian who owns the Abbey. With extensive knowledge of the wedding world of suppliers, with help from our wedding cake business Where the Ribbon Ends.
We are a marquee venue, all suppliers are hired in by you. We are able to suggest a number of suppliers we know and trust.
Our Summer House structure completed in 2020, this will offer the perfect location to perform the legal part of your wedding ceremony.
In England, currently, the legal part of marriage must be within a licensed building.
Anna will be able to advise all options for this.
Blessings in the Abbey
A unique setting to hold a civil ceremony or blessing. After your ceremony why not move onto your welcome drinks within the Abbey – all your guests can enjoy the idyllic surroundings and soak up the atmosphere, and whilst your guests soak up the romantic setting, you can capture your wedding day with some photographs around the Abbey, keeping off the walls at all times.

Our beautiful landscaped paddock adjoins the Abbey, with a Avenue of trees leading to the marquee location. Surrounded by wild grasses and facing west, you and your guests can enjoy the sun setting.
Whether you have had a church service and then to the Abbey or had your blessing here, you and your guests can enjoy the abbey grounds with welcome drinks and a chance to explore these beautiful ruins. With plenty of photo opportunities for you and your guests, the abbey creates a natural entertainment. After a few hours of enjoying drinks and canapés, of which your caterer would provide. The party would move onto the marquee for the wedding breakfast and toast. Sunset offers a great chance to return back to the Abbey for some more photos with beautiful light cast throughout the windows of the abbey. Music and drinks will continue, carriages are at midnight.
